This artwork draws inspiration from the vibrant hues and sunsets of Siam that is captured in Chini's original painting called "The nostalgic hour by the menam". During his days before visiting Siam, he was making works based on art movements in Europe, which at that time consisted of dull and muted tones. However, after his stay in Siam, the vibrancy in his works increased, representing the colorful palette of the oriental country.
